What a Lent this has been! I have truly enjoyed the time of reflection and prayer. I have to say that I love Lent more and more each year. In fact, it's gaining on being my favorite time of the year. It's definitely in my top three.
Today is Palm Sunday and it is also my big boy's 8th birthday! I can't believe that he's growing up so fast. He's about 52" and 55 pounds. In no time, he will be as tall as his momma! He's got a smile full of tooth gaps with no end in sight.
He's been doing SO WELL as a "redshirted" first grader. It was a very difficult decision - but now we are so pleased with his progress this year. The things that he couldn't understand at all last year are making perfect sense to him now - even those wacky common core math ideas! He's a great example of how an extra year of maturity can really help a kid in school. I pray that going to second grade will be a smooth transition. He's already well into a second grade reading level, so at least we have one aspect of it covered.
He also is quite the athlete. At yesterday's soccer game, he scored all FOUR of the team's goals. They lost their game, but it wasn't due to lack of effort! I know that this is a mom talking about her perfect child, but this kid has talent. I know he has his heart set on playing AUBURN FOOTBALL, but this mom would LOVE it if her son would play AUBURN FUTBOL! I'm considering calling the coaches to come and check him out. J/K. Maybe.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SWEET BOY!!!!
